28 Weeks! A Big Milestone

I did it! I am officially 28+1 weeks along. There was a time where I didn’t feel like I would make it this far. I can’t believe it’s been exactly 8 weeks since I found out about my short cervix and all of this started. It feels so weird to say that I’m now officially in the third trimester. I’m definitely feeling things a lot more! Bigger kicks and rolls, a lot more weight, aches and pains. I’m here for it though, happy to still be pregnant. My next goal is 34 weeks, and anything after that will be bonus.

I had another cervical check with my MFM today- I’ve remained stable at 1.8cm with pressure (2.9cm with no pressure!) and he said the mild funnelling seems to be even less now, which is great!
Baby boy was looking good, but he did note a ‘prominent dark spot’ on his brain. The spot alone is normal, a fluid filled area (the lateral ventricles) he said it is very common, it only becomes an issue of it is over 10mm. Today it measured at about 9.5mm, so the high end of normal. He said boys also typically have larger sized ones compared to girls. I go back for one more cervical check as well as a growth scan next Tuesday, so they will monitor that. He said it’s not a worry yet, just something to keep an eye on. Of course the first thing I did when I got home was Google. Thankfully it agrees, that it is not a concern yet, these things come and go and change over the course of the trimester, plus the fact that he was 2.7lbs and in the 70th percentile a few weeks ago so the size makes sense. I’m going to try not to dwell on it until next weeks scan.

Over all I am feeling good though! Looking forward to getting outside a bit more- I can now do short 10-15min walks. I’ll still take it easy most days but just knowing I can do a bit more, it’s such a great feeling.
